Pearl Elizabeth Gallot and Arnold Seddon Farrell
Born 1908
Pearl, like her sisters,
loved dancing and went to the dances at the Orange Hall in Newton Rd which
was just up the road from where they lived. Her first job was at NZ
drycleaners.
She was engaged for 5
years and after she was married to, press operator, Arnold Farrell on 16
Feb 1935 at St Matthews Auckland. They first lived in a flat in
Mckelvie St, and went to the Shore after that.
Pearl and Arnold had one
son, Michael, who married Mary and had children, Stephen and Elizabeth
(pictured below)
Arnold died 1990 and Pearl
passed away on the 27th
of June 2001 and the following appeared in the Herald on Saturday morning;
“FARRELL,
Pearl Elizabeth (1908 – 2001) Passed
away at Wesley Hospital on Wednesday 27 June. Pearl was the beloved
wife of the late Arnold, (1990), mother of Michael, mother-in-law of Mary,
grandmother of Stephen and Elizabeth, dearly
loved by all her family. Pearl lived a dignified and honourable life for 93
years, devoting herself to her home and family. The residents and staff of
Mabel Smith Cottage brought great comfort in her final years. Private
cremation. Family and friends are invited to Micheal and Mary’s home on
Sunday afternoon between 2 and 5pm on July 1 to celebrate Pearl’s long
life.”
