Leonard James Gallot
Len was the eldest son of James and
Vera, born in 1927. He struggled with life following his father’s
death and after being thrown out of his Aunt’s home due to bad behaviour, he
spent some time in the wayward boys home. When Len was old enough to
fend for himself he began working as a general labourer. When Vera
remarried, Len did not get on with Alec Grey and he was forbidden in their
home.

It wasn’t until Margaret and Jean
returned to Auckland from Mananui, around 1956, that they regularly saw
Len. Len died at Margaret’s home, at 20 Brenan Ave, on 18 April 1976, aged
49
